Context
The city of Laval adopted a new Urbanism Code (CDU) in November 2022 to modernize its planning rules and provide a better framework for the development of the territory. The updated regulations focus on urban design rather than merely separating land uses, fostering cohesive and sustainable living spaces. It better protects natural environments, encourages sustainable mobility and adapts standards in agricultural zones. The city has also introduced a transitional bylaw to facilitate adaptation to the new rules.
